Build Homes, Community & Hope with Habitat Lake County

At Habitat Lake County, our work is powered by a community of dedicated volunteers who bring hope and opportunity to families looking for a pathway to affordable homeownership. Among these supporters, our regular volunteers are the backbone of our mission, showing up week after week to make a lasting impact.

When you commit to volunteering on our build sites regularly, you’re doing more than hammering nails or painting walls—you’re helping to build brighter futures for families in your own community.

Why We Need You

Homebuilding is no small task, and consistent, reliable support makes all the difference. Regular volunteers provide the steady hands that keep our projects on track and our families on the path to homeownership. With your commitment, we can:

  • Work more efficiently and meet building deadlines, ensuring families move into their homes sooner.
  • Reduce costs by relying less on outside contractors and more on the skills of our volunteers.
  • Foster a strong, supportive community of builders who share a commitment to making homeownership a reality for more of our neighbors!

No Experience? No Problem!

You don’t need to be a professional carpenter or have prior construction experience to make an impact. Our expert staff and crew leaders will guide you every step of the way, teaching you the skills needed to contribute meaningfully. All you need is:

  • A willingness to learn.
  • A commitment to showing up.
  • A passion for helping others.

The Commitment

Regular volunteers join us on build sites at least once every two weeks. This consistency not only strengthens your skills but also creates a sense of camaraderie with other dedicated individuals. Once you learn the ropes, you can also assist our construction team by leading other groups of volunteers!
